Per quanto riguarda le nomination, che quest'anno includono anche la presenza di nuove categorie, Taylor Swift è l'artista che ne ha ricevute di più, ben 8, seguita da The Weeknd con 6 e da Adele, Drake, Justin Bieber e Ed Sheeran tutti con 5 nominations a testa.
AGGIORNAMENTO: Ai già annunciati Justin Bieber e Meghan Trainor si aggiungono Zayn, Chris Brown, DNCE, Demi Lovato, Fetty Wap e dal Capital One JamFest si esibiranno i Maroon 5 e Pitbull. A presentare lo show ci penserà Jason Derulo.
AGGIORNAMENTO #2: Ancora prima della data stabilita sono stati svelati i primi vincitori, il premio di Song of the Year è andato a "Hello" e la statuetta è stata consegnata ad Adele durante il suo concerto a Birmingham mentre il Best Tour se l'è aggiudicato Taylor Swift.
Agli ospiti già annunciati si aggiungono Iggy Azalea, G-Eazy e Bebe Rexha. Inoltre durante la stessa serata del 3 Aprile si svolgeranno i Juno Awards in Canada e la performance di The Weekend nella sua madrepartria sarà trasmessa simultaneamente anche agli iHeartRadio.
